In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea today is the Day of the Sun, the 106th anniversary of the birth of President Kim Il-sung. Born in 1912, Kim Il-sung was a peerless Korean revolutionary who fought relentlessly for the independence of Korea and the Korean people from childhood until his death in 1994. President Kim Il-sung was an avowed internationalist, known all over the globe for his undying support of revolutionary movements such as the Black Panther Party. In times of hardship, and political pressure due to the rift in the socialist camp, Kim Il-sung displayed his ability as a statesman and representative of the Korean masses. On this day we celebrate his life, his achievements, and his revolutionary spirit.
